Help

A quick guide to the DGE tools: what each one does, how the filters work, and how to read the outputs.

Heatmap · Volcano · Enrichment · Gene Browser · Network

Quick start

Typical workflow (recommended).

  1. Start by selecting a Disease.
  2. Then select a Dataset (or multiple datasets in Heatmap/Gene Browser).
  3. Set padj cutoff and |log2FC| cutoff to filter genes.
  4. Click the tool action button: Compute/Generate/Run.
  5. Use hover/click on the plot to see details; export results via the Download buttons.

Important terms

A 1-minute reference for understanding filters.

padj: Adjusted p-value (FDR). Smaller padj means more significant.
log2FC: Log2 fold-change. Positive = up, negative = down.
|log2FC|: Magnitude filter. 0.5 is roughly a 1.41× change.
Biotype: Gene type (e.g., protein_coding, lncRNA). Filters select a subset of genes.
